Team News vs Dawlish 2s

Confirmation of our squad that will travel to face Dawlish United II in tomorrow’s Division 6 season opener!

It hasn’t been an easy decision for new boss, Leigh Brooks, who has suffered a selection headache this week as he whittles the ever-growing squad list down to just 16 players.

The boys have been working so hard recently and the mood in camp is better than ever! We can’t wait for the first whistle at 3pm tomorrow!

Back to Business

Today, our season begins…

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the hundreds of people that affect Bradninch FC. From every single one of the opposition players we’ll play against this season, to the referees that keep us in check on a Saturday afternoon!

The kitchen staff that always go above and beyond to make sure we’ve got something to snack on after a tough game. The coaches that turn up half an hour before training just to set up the cones. The groundsmen, because without someone taking care of our pitch, we wouldn’t be able to even kick a ball on the weekend!

Our sponsors who have supported us financially across many seasons, supplying kit and much needed essentials so we can get the best out of our game. The committee, who keep everything ticking along, despite the relentless pressure and challenges that crop during the year!

The captains, the players, the managers. The list goes on…

But most importantly is you, our supporters! Thank you for turning up to watch us, to comment on our posts when a result didn’t go the right way, for sharing our stories when we’ve needed a helping hand!

Hopefully we can do you all proud this season!

Backing Brooks

Leigh Brooks to take charge of Bradninch 1st Team

Bradninch Football Club are pleased to announce that Leigh Brooks will take over as manager of the first team.

The 32-year-old first joined the club in 2016 as a player, supporting the senior squad as they struggled to name a starting XI on a weekly basis. Having had a short playing career in the heart of defence, Brooks soon moved into more of a coaching role, supporting Stuart Murray, former first team manager.

Over the years, Leigh has used his impressive networking skills and ever-growing presence within the local community to bring in new players and attract some exciting talent. Along with the support of the committee and coaches, the club now have 36 players signed on, with more to come as they get set to compete in the MACRON Devon and Exeter League during the 2019/20 campaign.

The first task on Brooks’ hands is whittling that squad list down to select the players he would like to join him in the first team, who will compete in Division 6 this season. Whilst it’s bound to give him a few headaches in the process, the road ahead looks like a long and prosperous one:

The squad looks fresh, driven and ready for Saturday’s season opener. I’m almost as excited as they are. I look around at the quality across all of the players at training and I’m amazed of our squad depth. We’re going to have two very tidy teams in a few short weeks.

Asked what his plans are for the new season, Brooks was quick to refer to the different variations of player he has available to him, making sure he uses each and every one of their strengths to his advantage:

The short-term goal for the club is ultimately establishing itself in Division 6 and being competitive in every game we play. I’ll want to bring through the youth players and utilise our senor players to help coach them along the way.

It’s a little like Christmas Eve for me this time of year. You’ve signed your players, ran training sessions, played plenty of friendlies and finalised your squads. Now it’s just the long wait until game day and the buzz of Saturday football being back again!

Brooks will take charge of his first game as first team manager in this weekends season opener as his side travel to Dawlish United II in search of three points.

This news of course comes following the departure of Stuart Murray, former first team manager, who we would like to thank for his time, service and loyalty to the club over the past few years.
