PREVIEW: Bradninch Villa vs. Amory Green Rovers II

  • Saturday 2nd March
  • Kick Off: 3pm
  • Kensham Park, Bradninch

Form Focus
Bradninch Villa: D W W L L
Amory Green Rovers II: D L L L L

When Bradninch Villa first kicked off their season, the target was clear; aim for a top half finish and look to improve an ever-expanding squad.

Manager Leigh Brooks will be fairly content with how those plans are working out so far, but a major spike in form over the Christmas period has left him and his players wanting promotion to Division 7.

With it still undecided on how many teams will go up at the end of the season, Bradninch Villa are continuing to fight for every point on offer.

Having fallen to defeat in each of their last two fixtures, it’s clearer than ever that there can’t be room for any further slip ups.

With just eight games left of the campaign, the next challenge for Villa sits with an Amory Green Rovers side that are having struggles of their own.

The Tiverton outfit have failed to register a single win during the 2018/19 campaign and only managed to pick up their first point a few weeks ago in a 2-2 draw with Priory II.

Nevertheless, the recent game against Exmouth Town III showed the Villa squad that there is no such thing as an easy game, and they will once again have to be at their very best to take away all three points.

The two sides are yet to meet this season but will be eager to get going in the Devonshire sunshine following a week of record February temperartures.

And whilst things may not be so bright when looking at Villa’s recent form, Brooks will be more than happy so long as his side come out of the traps fighting from the very first minute.

Team News

Villa will be forced to make changes to the side that ran out as 7-2 losers in the last outing against Exmouth Town III just under two weeks ago.

Harry Coombe will drop out from the midfield as he takes on personal commitments over the weekend, meaning there will be boots to fill in the middle of the park.

Having enjoyed a string of consistent performances over the course of the season, central defender Tim Brown will be gutted to miss out this weekend meaning a spot opens up in the back four.

Centre forward Tyler Long and Liam Upham complete the absentee list, whilst Jake Lewis continues his recovery to full fitness as he works towards a return next season.

Absentees: H. Coombe, T. Brown, T. Long, L. Upham, J. Lewis

All are welcome to come and support the boys this this weekend as they look to return to form. Kick-off is from 3pm at Kensham Park.
